Catalyst Development describes its new complex, the 180 E. Water Street apartment, as “Kalamazoo’s latest luxury urban living option.”

Located within The Warner Building, the organizations says the complex features 45 apartments at affordable, market, and premium rates.

Its various floor plans include twenty efficiency apartments, as well as one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units, and four premium apartments. Officials say the space is good for professionals and students alike.

“We wanted to build a community within 180 E. Water Street that is accessible to people from all walks of life,” Catalyst Development’s Vice President and Managing Director Patti Owens said in a statement. “From the very beginning, we wanted this building to reflect the diversity that is Kalamazoo. And its location within the heart of downtown allows residents to enjoy the charm and convenience that downtown dwellers are able embrace.”

In addition to the many ADA accessible units with the ability to transform addition units if needed, the building hosts the following amenities, among others:

  • Sound proofing in each unit,
  • reserved parking,
  • a high-tech fitness studio,
  • secure mail and package delivery center,
  • a rooftop terrace connected to a social gathering room available to residents

The property also offers on-site security officers, a state-of-the-art surveillance system and video intercoms in each unit, according to officials.

In addition to the apartments of 180 E. Water Street, The Warner Building features mixed-use design. The commercial space will also soon be home to local organizations such as Warner Norcross + Judd LLP, Southwest Michigan First, Communities in Schools, Stryker Johnston Foundation, and The Kalamazoo Promise.

“We look forward to welcoming these organizations and feel each will add something really special to the neighborhood we’re creating,” Owens said.

Josie Boucher, Executive Partner for Warner’s Kalamazoo office, released a statement as well:

We are honored to join other leading Kalamazoo organizations in this wonderful new space. We envision The Warner Building will be viewed as a business hub and gathering space within downtown. Co-locating here with economic development and community organizations aligns directly with our values and confirms our commitment to the city. Warner strives to become immersed in each community where we have an office. This location is ideal for us because it’s a newly constructed building in the heart of downtown Kalamazoo, allowing Warner to add to the vibrancy of the downtown business district.

As construction and design partners CSM Group and TowerPinkster complete the finishing touches, the commercial tenants of The Warner Building will take occupancy this summer.

Residential occupants will be welcomed to 180 E. Water Street in mid-summer.

Catalyst Development is currently accepting applications and providing tours of the building.
